December-January Update

December 2011

Oh boy I have been slacking on updating about Cap's life!  He had a fabulous holiday season!! 

Cap had a lot of fun helping decorate Grandpa's Apartment!

Hello December!!

It's hard to believe the holidays are right around the corner!!  Cap is enjoying his first holiday season that's for sure! Here is Cap "supervising" me while I graded papers!

This is Cap's first experience with SNOW (other than when he was just a baby that is!!)  It didn't stick around, but he sure thought it was weird while it was around!

 Our nightly routine...

I think we have figured out a system for Cap's work out.  8pm has been the magic treadmill time.  Any eariler and he forgets that he got exercise by the time we go to bed; any later and he's still wound up at bedtime!  8:00 it is!!

Today Cap, my mom & me went to decorate Grandpa's apartment!  Cap was very well behaved at Cherry Ridge as always!

Then it was time to decorate our house!  Cap LOVES the tree!!

All of this decorating was tiring apparently!!!

 I saw this at Wegmans… Adorable, but I surprisingly declined!

Every morning at precisely 5:37am Cap leaps off my bed onto the floor and… assumes position!?

The one bed that stood the test of time...

...is no longer!!!

Ohhh how could I forget… Sleep update: BETTER!!!

November Update

November hit and Cap was still not sleeping through the night.  I was given a potential solution by Beth, a co-worker of mine who has actually been lucky enough to work with Caesar Millan!  Beth asked if I had ever tried putting him on a treadmill.  I told her I hadn't, but would try anything.  She explained how to do it and I attempted that night…

November 7, 2011:  First Attempt

Here is Cap's first attempt at the treadmill…. Please note that in Beth's defense, I really did not follow her instructions quite closely enough…

Be sure to notice him refusing to move his back legs and instead just letting them drag along.  Also, he kept trying to sneak out backwards, thus why it looks like I have a choke hold on his harness!!  Love the commentary, Mom! ; )

Needless to say this attempt was less than successful… but it was only our first attempt…

Here is Cap's third day of treadmill work.  He was SUCH a good boy!!  This worked much better with the right leash and prompting.  His cooperation helped too!

Cap's new travel crate came today!  He seems to like it… let's see how long it takes him to figure out how to escape from this one!

Cap had a very busy day today!  In the morning we went to the barn to watch Lilo ride.  Cap spent the whole time there sprinting through the paddocks with Zoe and playing with Mozzie!  He also decided to find some lovely deer poop to roll in… several times!!! YUCK!
  

After going home for bath #2, we went back to Lilo's for more playtime with Zoe!!  This crazy day actually tired this Jack out!!!  Here he was at about 9pm...

  

I kept waking him up so he would sleep all night… he was quite annoyed with me but…. HE SLEPT!!!  : )

Jeter is serving as a great chair for Captain Jack!!!  They were just hanging out like this when I walked in the kitchen!  Quite odd if you ask me!

Here are tonight's treadmill antics…

Apparently walking straight got boring so Cap wanted to try it sideways...

Even while working out, Cap could take the time to yell at Jeter who was trying to come in the room!

 Official Sleep Update:  Inconsistent…

The excitement never ends around here!!!

Thanksgiving 2011 was full of kids at our house!  Cap had a great time playing with everyone… but spent a good amount of time barking too!!

Apparently all the excitement tired this guy right out though…

This was Cap's first Halloween and of course he dressed up as none other than Captain Jack Sparrow!
                                         

Cap and I went to visit my grandpa at his Cherry Ridge apartment for their Halloween Celebration!  Cap was a VERY good boy.  He was very patient with all of the little kids and others who wanted to pet him.

 

Captain Jack has once again decided that his bed is a great chew toy….

Tonight I was the designated puppy sitter for my parents' dogs, Jeter and Chloe and of course Captain Jack.

Here is a summary of Jeter's behavior:

When bedtime came I decided to let Cap sleep in my room with me.  I left Jeter and Chloe in the living room.  (With plenty of comfy sleeping opportunities available of course)  Cap was actually a very good boy and went right to sleep with me.  Around 2am I hear Jeter barking outside of my door.  I thought maybe he wanted to go out so I got up and let all the dogs out.  When I finally got them to come back inside, Jeter then followed Cap and I into my bedroom.  I decided to give in and let him sleep in my room (ON THE FLOOR), so I went to go get his bed.   I came back and looked for Chloe.  This is what I came back to….

Yup, there was Chloe all cozy in my bed!  At this point I just wanted to get back to sleep so I let it go.  Just me and 3 dogs in my room.  Good times.

Then at 5am Jeter woke me up by shaking his head repeatedly because his ears were bothering him.  With that I kicked all the dogs out… hoping to get a few more winks in…  Needless to say I'm a little tired this morning… and apparently I am not the only one….

 



Must be nice pups!!!  Oh the joys of pups!!!

Apparently the dogs thought that I was making Reese's Peanut Butter Bars for them…

Today is the coldest day we've had so far this Fall… So Cap got to wear his new jacket when we went for our walk!

Apparently it was a little itchy because this is him when we got home…
